Beholden Book

Beholden Book is an iteration upon the Beholden font, which is a hand-drawn serif font.

The original Beholden was converted from the glyph drawings with very minimal editing. This revision refines the font a bit more, evening out some of the kerning differences and standardizing baselines -- in hopes of making it a more reasonable 'body copy' font for longer passages.

I tried to preserve the character of the font when possible (the crooked lines, some of the wobbliness), but the nature of trying to revise it for body copy means that some of the bigger imperfections were smoothed out. I've kept the two fonts separate for that reason, and Beholden is still perfectly usable.

Beholden Book also contains some more features, specifically:

• a completely re-drawn bold character set, for both the upright and the italic
• ligature (fi and fl) and extended Latin support
• custom small caps, which I use liberally on the headers and hyperlinks on this page

The font contains three weights (light, regular, and bold), and their italics. The font is licensed under the SIL Open Font License.
